Season 2, Episode 4: The Power of Golf with Joe Donnelly

Tacking Awareness of Mental Health Issues Joe Donnelly

Golf has the power to change, shape and save lives. That is a view shared by not only ourselves here at GYH, but especially by this week’s guest, Joe Donnelly, CEO of T.A.M.H.I (Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues).

Born out of trauma and tragedy, T.A.M.H.I was founded in memory of Joe’s dear friend, Thomas (Tammy) Tucker, who died by suicide in 2009. Based in Northern Ireland, Joe founded the charity in the belief that sport can act as an enabler of raising awareness and encouraging conversations about emotional wellbeing.

Under Joe’s leadership, TAMHI has received widespread acclaim and various awards for their work, most recently winning the Sport Gives Back Social Impact award, presented by footballing legend, Frank Lampard, earlier this year.

This is a deeply moving and inspiring episode, which isn’t short of a few tears shed by both Joe and Kris during the conversation, as well as plenty of laughs, particularly about Joe’s first ever set of golf clubs and the nicknames he got when using them!
